If the Walk Forward finishes with a better equity line this gives us the idea that the original strategy is not over-optimized.
And at the end, it does a complete backtest with the final parameters. If the complete backtest is a better strategy, we can use it. We have simply a better strategy and it is not over-optimized one. Because of the optimizer work just for the last segment, not for the whole period. The backtest is on the whole period.
After that walk forward optimization course from Petko, this thing got clearer for me 🙂

FXBlue works just perfectly together with EA Studio and the Expert Advisors we use. It is the ideal combination between trading many strategies in one account and following the result with such accuracy in FX blue.
Just an update to this topic: I started using more the consecutive losses acceptance criteria. I went down to 5 and the strategies I get are really awesome. I use it as well to remove the EAs from my live account. If they make more than 5 consecutive losses, I remove them.
And it makes a lot of sense because if we create an EA following one thing when this thing is broken or comes not true, it means the strategy was over-optimized for that criteria. Correct me if I am wrong Petko.
Petko, I do not see a single reason why some should be trading manually. Seriously. We are in the 21st century, we have the MetaTrader, the Strategy builders and unstoppable internet. 🙂
Trying to trade manually when there are the Expert Advisors is like riding the car of Flintstone when there are regular cars.
Hello Mery, well if you have used the Walk Forward Optimization and you get any of the strategies from the collection, it means that the strategy already passed the Walk Forward Optimization. And you are doing WF optimization on the one that is already optimized.
This is why you do not see a better strategy because you are trying to optimize with WF the one that is already optimized. It is not the original one that you are having in the collection. We do not see the original because it was changed from the WF optimizer.

In the beginning, I was only using Petko’s EAs. It took me about 4 months before I could create really sustainable EAs with good results. It was a matter of collecting the Historical data. When I look back in time I guess this was the main reason why I was failing to get robust strategies.
Don’t get me wrong, I am still using his EAs 🙂

You got only 8671 generated strategies? Why is that small number? Do you leave your browser behind or minimized? Sometimes this pauses the work of the generator. The browser needs to be active in front of you. For 10 hours you should be getting about 1 000 000 strategies, not 8k…
The other thing comes to my mind is that your computer is veeery slow. But I do not think that this is the reason because even it is extreeemely slow you should get more strategies than 8k..
Hey Petko, are the 30 crosses EAs coming up? I have all the new EAs set to the accounts but I am missing those…
Thanks for the trading course, Petko! The lectures about Money management are quite interesting. I have been trading for such a long time with EAs and never calculated the risk this way. But you are right as always 🙂

Somehow they got my number and a girl(sounded like 14 years old) started to talk about the financial markets 🙂
I asked her a question: ” Can you tell me when is the swap charges?”
After 10 sec pause, she said that they do not have a swap hahaha
After that, the manager switched(obviously he was listening to the call) and guess what, he said that their swap was 20%!!!! Unbelievable!
It means that if you keep your trade opened for 5 days you will zero the account…
Really try to stay away from these people…really!

I think the same. The thing is when people travel, it is good to have access to the EAs, not just to monitor them. I have many MetaTraders installed as well but recently I keep the 2 live accounts on a VPS so when I travel I have access to Experts.

Hope you and your team are fine! I was wondering if there will be an update with the EA Studio regarding the new changes on the Acceptance criteria in OOS and the Walk forward. I see that when I run OOS with the Walk Forward I do not get the green line as in the courses. I guess this is because of an update.
