Hi, I already replied to this here.
Marin StoyanovKeymasterSome prop firms offer very low leverage for crypto, which makes trading these assets with robots impossible. For example with FundedNext, their leverage for crypto is 1:1 which makes it impossible for the crypto robots to open any positions as there isn’t any margin at all.
Marin StoyanovKeymasterThanks Sandor, indeed most of the EAs have a few trades per week. One can estimate that by looking at the count of trades on the 1W (weekly) charts and have a better understanding of what to expect.
Another way to debug any potential issues is by looking at the Experts and Journal tabs in the MetaTrader terminal where warning or error messages would point to any potential issues.
Marin StoyanovKeymasterHi, without more context it’s difficult to say what happened. I suppose the account is closed and we can’t look into it in detail to understand the issue.
You might have global variables (under Tools > Global Variables) that affected the protections or if you were disconnected from the Internet (if trading on a local PC, or for some reason your VPS was disconnected) this would also prevent the EAs from working.
Without looking into the account, I can only guess.
Marin StoyanovKeymasterThe robots will close the trade either when they hit the TP, SL or they receive a signal from the indicators from the underlying strategy. In your case the last happened and that’s why the trade was closed.
Marin StoyanovKeymaster@dominikdorner, the EAs from the app open trades at the opening of the M15 bar so you should use the Open Prices Only for the backtest. Also when you run the backtest, check how much bars the broker offers for the asset you’re backtesting. Another thing to double-check is that the account size you’re backetsting on is the same there robots are created for – for example if you downloaded EAs for a $100k account, you should backtest them on such account.
Marin StoyanovKeymasterHi, you can see the last activity next to each post. We reply to all posts in the forum. If you publish in the relevant topic, your post will be replied much faster but if you just open a new topic it might take some time to reply as the correct support member must be assigned to this topic first. That’s why we recommend to use the present structure of the forum.
Marin StoyanovKeymasterYou might need EA Studio for that to modify the strategy but the end result will be a completely different EA with a different performance.
Marin StoyanovKeymaster@natedee you can’t expect equal trading in 2 different accounts, especially if one of them is demo and the other one is different (e.g. challenge). That’s because of the different quotes provided by every broker, and also they provide different quotes on demo and live accounts as well.
The next thing you should consider and double-check is if the prop firm offers the same leverage for the assets you’re trading on your demo account. For example with BTCUSD, The5ers offers 1:2 leverage for the asset, FTMO offers 1:3 on the standard account and 1:3 on the swing account, FundedNext offers 1:1 leverage and etc. If your demo account is with some regulated broker, for example BlackBull offers 1:100 leverage for BTCUSD at the moment. So the leverage can affect the trading – with low leverage the BTCUSD can’t open trades because there is not enough margin.
Marin StoyanovKeymasterHi, did you followed the instructions from the PDF? For the backtest you should use the Open Prices Only modeling as the EAs trade at the opening of the M15 bar. Also be sure that the EAs you’ve downloaded are backtested on the same account size they are preset for, e.g. if you download EAs for $100,000 account, you need to run the backtest on the very same account size.
Marin StoyanovKeymasterHey @Sand0r, nothing is changed in the strategy generation process – it’s the same as it was since the creating of the app. On our challenges page you can look at the accounts that have forex robots from the prop app, for example this one which is doing well lately.
Can you share how do you select the robots which you trade with, do you replace them or not, if so how often and etc., just some more context to get a better understanding of your system.
Marin StoyanovKeymasterHey Cristian, the app comes with 2 EAs per pair. By default you see them both, but if you filter the best 1, you will see only the more profitable EA from each pair. With many prop firms having a rule against hedging or trading multiple robots from the same pair in a single account this feature is useful to filter only one robot per pair.
Marin StoyanovKeymasterHello, combining such diverse assets like crypto, forex, gold, or silver presents several unique challenges due to their differences in market behavior, risk dynamics, and operational requirements. Assets like crypto (e.g., BTCUSD) are highly volatile, with frequent large price swings, while forex pairs (e.g., USDJPY) are typically more stable. Gold and silver have their own volatility patterns, often responding to economic events like interest rate announcements. This variability in volatility can cause uneven performance across the portfolio, making risk management more complex. High volatility assets can skew results, potentially leading to increased drawdowns or unexpected losses. Another issue is that Forex operates within established market hours, and commodities like gold and silver have their most active periods during the London and New York sessions. In contrast, crypto trades 24/7, including weekends, with distinct liquidity patterns. These differences in trading hours can affect execution quality and cause unexpected volatility, especially when moving between market close and open periods.
From our experience with all the challenges where we participated, we never used such a diverse asset selection. We either stick to the forex pairs, or if we trade other assets as well we pick no more than 3 and use the same risk for each so we can identify which assets and EAs are performing well and which not.
That being said, when market is in downtrend, there is not much you can do but wait for a better time.
Hope this helps to evaluate the robots and your setup better.
Marin StoyanovKeymasterHello, “authorization failed” is not a problem related to the robot. Usually this message appears when you’re entering wrong login credentials for your account. Or if could be that some prop firms don’t allow trading with robots on a trial/demo account. Can you say if the second is the issue or not?
