Hi guys.  I also have similar problems with chrome and edge.  And I also did try out firefox which actually took care of the problem.  However, for those that still opt to use Chrome for whatever reason, I may have a solution for you.  Do note that I only generate 2 algos at one time, thus, I only use 2 separate browsers simultaneously.  Consequently, the remedy that I found may not be suitable for others who make algos beyond the number I’ve earlier mentioned.

Here is what I found that might help you:  Try minimizing the 2 browsers.  That’s it =)

Attached is a copy of what I’m trying to say.  I hope you found this useful.

    Cheers,

    Jay-R

    Hi Petko,

I tried refreshing it several times but it gave the same results.

I just decided to wait for another day and tried opening EA Studio again. It’s fixed now =)

    Hey Bart,

    Happy new year!

Yeah, that’s one of the things that I like with Petko, his detailed answers really clears up a lot of things.

I’m still on demo for algo trading but so far so good.

    How about you?

Thanks a lot, Petko.  It’s clearer now.

That turned some light bulbs on when I was reading your answer.  Very nice indeed.

    Hello Petko,

It would be great if that would be included in the packages.  That really helps a lot in monitoring over the performance of the EA’s.

In the meantime though, can you mention how you keep track over the performance of the EA’s as per the 5 trades—1.2 profit factor criteria?

As we have been discussing with Bart, FxBlue does not have a filter to exclude previous trades so that the computation of the profit factor would be quicker.  The time filter could be used though; however, it does not really provide consistent results since there are times that there are more trades that take place in some trading days.

Are you monitoring the performance of the trades manually after the 5th trade has already taken, like using excel for example? Just curious how you solved this problem.

    Cheers,

    Hey Bart,

Glad to know that method of testing helped out =)

I hope it aids you to bank more pips.

    Hey Bart,

This was essentially my question that I was trying to ask Petko as I mentioned above.

“… when you start the counting of trades again, do you refresh FxBlue so that the count of trades will start at 0 trades? Is this even possible to do?

I also tried the time filter in FxBlue and found similar results as you.

Hopefully, Petko could help us out on this one.

    Noted Bart.  Thanks.

Yes, what I’m trying to do would definitely be contrary to the concept of diversification.

Currently, however, I’m using portfolio EA’s not for the purpose of diversification but simply to save space in my MT4 terminal while testing a number of strategies per currency pair.

Also, I’m still quite new in trading algos, and to be honest, I’m still not used to seeing a lot of magic numbers that’s why opted to test different strategies through portfolio EA’s to make things simpler initially.

I’ll get better through time =)

    Hey Bart,

1-2. Yes, in addition to Petko’s courses involving FSB Pro, I also read the manual and also watched Popov’s youtube videos.  Currently, I’m taking time to read the Forex Sofware forum as well.

Notwithstanding, I’m still having some problems in having a mental picture over what I was reading in the manual despite there are some pictures from time to time to help convey the message of what Popov was trying to explain.

Maybe some videos from Petko, either giving examples as to their application or providing more explanation, would shed more light.

    3-5. Thanks!

I appreciate all your comments Bart.

    Cheers,

    Hey Bart,

By excluding the 1st trade would mean that the gross loss/gross profit of the 1st trade would not be included in the computation of the profit factor over a particular strategy AFTER the 6th trade has taken place.

Thus, in this case, even though there are a total of 6 executed trades over a particular strategy, the profit factor will be evaluated based on the most recent performance, albeit, the past 5 executed trades (with the 1st executed trade being excluded from the computation since it does not reflect the most recent performance).

    Thanks Thapelo.

Yes, that would definitely be the method to be done if I want to change all of the position sizes for all of the strategies that are enabled to be traded within the portfolio ea.

I’m sorry for not being specific with my question, I meant suppose I would want to only change the position sizes of SOME of the strategies found within the portfolio but NOT ALL.

I’m assuming that it has something to do with altering the code itself?

“I do not start the account again after the 5th trade. I wait for 5 trades and a min profit factor of 1.2.”

Oooh.. Thanks for that clarification Petko.

So suppose, initially, there were 5 trades with profit factor of 1.0…

    Trades                  Profit Factor

    1

    2

    3

    4

    5                              1.0

And then later on there comes the 6th trade with Profit Factor of 1.2, excluding the 1st trade from computation of the profit factor.

    Trades                  Profit Factor

    (1st trade EXCLUDED)

    2

    3

    4

    5

    6                              1.2

At this stage, you will already consider the EA as ready to be traded live.

    Did I get that right?
