InactiveI wonder if Forexsb can be used with spread betting on the broker accounts using MT4 & MT5 and also what adjustments might need to be made for backtesting and criteria for trades?

InactiveHello,
as far as I am familiar with spread betting, I do not think FSB Pro is designed for that just because it is designed for actual trading. But after a few months now I see that FSB Pro makes it all possible, it has so many different options and possibilities(you can learn new things every day about it) that I am sure you can figure it out how to use it for spread betting

InactiveHello Viran,
As Violet said, FSB Pro is not meant to be spread betting software. However, give it a try, and see if it will work with you.

InactiveHi everyone, how can I create the 99 strategies on FSB like EA Studio?

InactiveHello,
there is a generator same as in EA Studio. The strategies go in the repository and You can export them from there.
basically it is the same method.

InactiveYes, Andi is correct. You can create 99 strategies just using the generator there. It works slower, but it will give you more complexed strategies. You can select using Higher Time Frame filters as well, but this might slow the process. The more criteria you place, the fewer strategies you will see, and you will need to run the generator for a long time or a few times.

yes, you can upload the EA back on FSB Pro.
First, you need to open a new strategy:
After that, you click on the arrow:

InactiveHi Petko,
How do I use a higher time frame to put it as the filter to my lower time frame? Meanwhile, I don’t understand how to create”or” and “and” logic in the opening and closing logic condition. Appreciate it if you could help to answer this.

I have a basic question for FSB. How do I set long only or short only in FSB editor and generator?

Inactiveok. I found the answer. It’s on opening logic. But my thought is like this. Trade long only when D1 is on uptrend while my current chart is on M1. How do I do that?

InactiveHello Simon,
the higher time frames are available only in FSB Pro.
I show it in details in the courses:
Forex strategy course – Portfolio trading strategies + 12 Expert Advisors
Algorithmic day trading – Top 10 USDJPY Expert Advisors
Did you watch these courses? Basically, you select which will be your major time frame.
Let’s say you want to trade on M5:
This is where is your main time frame. Where the EA will execute the trades.
After that, you select the indicators that you want to use on the higher time frames. Let’s say you want to use MACD on M30:
From the drop-down menu you can select which time frame you want to use as a filter.
Cheers,

Which indicator do you want to identify that the D1 is on uptrend? Use that filter as a higher time frame filter on D1 chart.

InactiveHi Petko,
I’m interested in both EA Studio and FSB Pro but I still can’t find the reasons that I need both although I understand the differences between both programs. Few questions that might help me to find out the answers.
1. Can I import EA from EA Studio to FSB Pro? Meanwhile, change the setting in bulk? Eg, change from Lot to percentage.
2. Can both run in my VPS? The OS is window server 2008
3. How do you use both programs to maximize profits?

InactiveHey Simon,
Glad to hear that you want to learn more and improve.
1. Not yet, but we are waiting for this update(can not really say when this will happen).
However, when you generate EA with EA Studio, you can build the same strategy in FSB Pro, and use some of the options there.
2. Yeah, the EAs that comes from EA Studio and FSB Pro is suitable for MetaTrader. And MetaTrader can run without issues on different VPSes.
3. This is a good question. Usually, with EA Studio I aim to create strategies that are more suitable for the sideways market. Buy when the price is cheap, and sell when the price is expensive. White with FSB Pro, I create trend-following strategies. I use the higher time frame filters option.
For example, trading on M1 or M5 and using confirmation on M30 and H1.
But EA STUDIO is faster because it works only with Meta trader Indicators and the other good tool is the Reactor that creates for you EAs, tests them, optimizes them fully automatically so you can have a ready portfolio of strategies/EAs. The tool Validator from EA Studio is also fantastic because you can recalculate old strategies, whole portfolios, and collections.
Personally for me, FSB Pro is more professional and you have 100s of custom indicators. But it is harder to be explained, and this is why in the courses, I show more EA Studio. But sometimes I get better and simpler EAs with EA Studio…
They just create a different type of EAs and when you combine, the best results are coming.

I found out that there is no search bar for me to find a related topic in this forum. Can you create one?

InactiveHello,
Well we all know that a trading strategy that works well on a variety of different markets is more robust than one that works on just one of those markets. However, I’m wondering if there is a feature in fsb pro that can be used to process many markets data (few ones, we all know there s no holly grail) while searching the strategy, rather than finding thousands of strategies that works profitably on single market and fails on all the others during the robustness test??

InactiveHello Charbel,
When you run the Multi Market you actually see which other markets are profitable for the strategy.
However, you won’t see the same good results as the origin market. After that, you will need to optimize the strategy, which brings the risk to over-optimize it.
I guess you want to make it just easier, and use one strategy on a couple of markets, but our experience shows that this is hard to achieve or nearly impossible.

InactiveHi Petko,
My lower time frame is ready but I want the system to generate a higher time frame indicator without touching my lower time frame indicator. What would you suggest?
-

InactiveHey Simon,
I think what you are looking for is not possible. You the Generator to find the indicators for the Higher time frames, right?
The Generator works only on the current time frame that you have selected, and in this case, this is your lower time frame.
So the best thing you can do is to set the higher time frames as filters, and then run the generator to find some more rules.
You can Lock as well some indicators that you want to have by default.

InactiveHi Petko / Desi
I have just completed the Top 10 USDJPY Expert Advisors: Algorithmic Day Trading course. This was, sort of, my first introduction to FSB Pro for generating and optimising strategies using this software.
I have completed most of your other Algo courses, and have been using EA Studio to create many strategies for a few months now. For most I run the optimizing and robustness tools.
My question is: if EA Studio already has optimizing and robustness tools built in, is it necessary to use FSB Pro too?
When you create EAs in EA Studio, do you, after creating them, import them to FSB Pro, and perform additional optimizing and robustness? I have found that when using EA Studio, if my acceptance criteria and robustness settings are too strict, I get only a few strategies. Would you advise less strict acceptance criteria in EA Studio to generate more strategies, and then afterwards optimize them in FSB Pro?
Thanks as always,
Ilan

InactiveHey Ilan,
Good question!
FSB Pro is the more advanced and complicated software for the traders.
It has some more features that EA Studio doesn’t have (but the Reactor is with EA Studio, which is the treasure there).
FSB Pro has higher time frames, which I like the most. As you saw in the USDJPY course, the strategies trade on M5, for example, but I filter them on M30 and H1. This way, we can trade the smaller time frames but to filter on the higher. Or the opposite thing.
It has logical groups. It has the bridge to trade on MetaTrader(that was created long ago before having the EAs).
And something important to know. EA Studio opens the trades on the opening of the bar. While FSB Pro can open IN the bar, that matters a lot for some strategies.
It is good to have struck acceptance criteria and have fewer strategies. I prefer having one good EA instead of 50 that might not perform as I want.
What you can do is to loosen the acceptance criteria and just filter the EAs after that from the Collection by adding additional filters.
Cheers,

I have one major issue which is
If lets say i want to use MACD
and i just want to say when the MACD is above “0” place a sell order
or place a buy order when below “0”
bcos your program doesn’t show numbers or Constantsor for instance if i just want to programme just one indicator called RSI. so that i can say when the RSI is above 75 trigger sell and when its below 15 trigger Buy

InactiveHey Morgan,
In FSB Pro you need just to add the entry rules and the exit rules. When you add it, there is the option to select what are the rules:
From there you can select the parameters.

InactiveDoes FSB Pro allow to select if an EA will close trades before an important news announcement? I have RSB Pro but do not know what is can and cannot do. Recently, Petko completed a beginners course for FSB. I took this course but did not learn enough to understand why I should use this software instead of EA Studio. I find it a show coming to have a software bundle that includes FSB Pro but does not include the RSB Pro course. If FSB Pro does not allow to select whether or not an EA should close all open trades before an important news announcement then I think this would be a valuable update to EA Studio and or FSB Pro.

InactiveHey Alan.
Glad to hear from you. There is no such filter, and with my tests during the news, I never concluded that it is better to pause the EAs.
You can do such a test with the very same EAs in two accounts. In one of them, you can pause the EAs, and with the other, you can leave them running 24/5.
Test is at least for a month.
FSB Pro works slowlier compared to EA Studio (solved now with the Express Generator), but it has higher time frame filters, more analytical tools, and more indicators.
FSB Pro works on the closing of the bar(also during the bar), and EA Studio on the opening. Which makes them quite different, and it is hard to say which one is better. They generate different EAs.

InactiveHey Alan,
FSBpro has the functionality to add this yourself if you are able to code.
As to why to use either over the other, other than the new what is it you are trying to do with the software? If you expand a little further on what you are looking for then I can advise you further :-)
Both software have their different strengths and weaknesses and compliment each other really well but it all depends on what you want to do.

InactiveHi Samuel,
During important news it is quite possible for the price of an asset to drop more than 5% of account balance if lot size is too large. This could then cause FTMO account to fail test. If the lot size is made quite low to avoid a 5% account balance drawdown then the FTMO account may not reach 10% profit by end of its testing period. I understand what Petko that over the long term the swings caused by important news events will cancel each other, however, when trying to use EA’s with FTMO this logic does not apply. The alternative is to either manually close all trades before an event, if I can remember to do so and I am at my computer which I may not be able to do, or to find an MT4 script I can add to each EA code. I am just trying to figure out how to handle this potential problem when trying to pass the FTMO testing period.

InactiveI got your point now. I would close the trades manually before the news.
-
November 16, 2022 at 17:58 #131198

InactiveYeah this sounds like more of a hybrid approach requiring sole manual intervention.
You could also run your algo on a few demo and monitor the magnitude of the moves around news releases to determine how it’s likely to impact.
I personally just leave mine running and don’t worry about the news, I just consider it to be captured in the history of my drawdown size and set my risk accordingly.
-
November 17, 2022 at 15:01 #131268

InactiveI also keep my algo trading running all the time. The backtest includes past movements from the news, so if you have balanced money management, it should not be an issue.

We are currently working on a Top-10 Robots application which will provide ready-to-test robots in different assets (including XAUUSD). It includes lots of input parameters you can set. It looks fantastic.
Hoping to release it soon.

Are you continually running the FSB?
And always using the SL, or TP or Trailling SL?Let me know.

InactiveHi everyone,
I have a question regarding the compatibility and functionality of FSB Pro and Expert Advisor Studio.
Is it possible to use FSB Pro to modify any EA generated by Expert Advisor Studio so that it employs a Martingale system? Has anyone tried this or have any insights on how to achieve it?
Thank you in advance for your help!
