I use as well a second-hand bought PC and it works just fine.
The good thing with the Desktops is that you can update it with RAM, Hard or anything.

I think you have enough power on your laptop. I7 is what I have and all the models there are good enough.
Maybe the RAM could be increased but I do not think it has an influence on the Reactor.
Wow! I always run it for 600 min overnight. I did not try such a long generation. Will set one just now 🙂

I have seen in some places that people say backtesting Forex strategies is useless because it does not guarantee future performance. Well, this is true, and everyone knows that there is no guarantee for future trading, but at least we have something, right?
If one uses manual trading and does not have an Expert Advisor how he would know the performance of the strategy? Not possible. It is not possible to backtest looking at the chart. I know many try to do that but they are not familiar with the repainting factor.
Having Expert Advisors is the only reliable way we can do backtesting Forex Strategies and especially with EA Studio we can see so many details:
hello all, I want to share a bad experience I had from my stupid mistake: I created my new EAs for the month and I placed the first ones on one of the computers I have. After that, I just received a new laptop and decided to test it. I installed the MetaTrader and placed all the EAs there. And those EAs I place straight to my live account because I use the method from Petko to simulate Demo trading with the Data in EA Studio.
When I looked at the results in FX Blue I saw that some of the EAs already opened double more trades than the others which was not usual. I kept looking into it for another 2 days and those EAs were opening more and more than the others. Until I realized that I had those EAs running still on the first computer I started placing them and on my new one…luckily they did not make losses but profits.
However, it is a stupid mistake because it could have been the other way around and get more losses… so pay attention where you place the EAs. If you decide to move them, make sure to disable the auto trade in the first place.

yes, 99% it is because you have a small number of bars. This is why you do not get strategies.
Try to generate strategies with the data source MetaTrader-Demo, this data comes form JFD broker, and it will give you 200 000 bars on M1 which is enough to generate strategies.
